Sime Road HQ (10/2/42)

February 10, 1942February 10, 2017

Home for tiffin and found that Doris had her marching orders.

Up to P & O office but nothing doing. To the docks “on speck” and learned from Chief Officer of “Empire Star” that passages may be obtained via Sea Transport Officer. Back to Singapore with the party (Doris, Jay, Grace and Geoff Harral).

We were lucky enough to get passages for both Doris and Grace. Got them aboard and went back to the house. Passages to Australia granted free.

Down to the docks again with more barang. Last Cheerios (with Doris).

Had a severe midnight scare because Bridges came in with a story that Japanese were near Sime Road HQ. Japanese have an Observation  Balloon up to observe their artillery fire.
