Minyak Beku, Johore

January 15, 1942January 15, 2017

1Platoon consisted of Lt. Proctor with some 16 British soldiers, and 4 Volunteers. We learned afterwards that the Navy had wirelessed Singapore regarding Japanese landing, but took no further action. We had that job.

Major Fearon references that 1 Platoon (British) was posted in a good position near the lighthouse end of the road leading from Batu Pahat and commanded a good view of the mouth of the river, the lighthouse (http://www.flickr.com/photos/slax/2788772902/) and the sea.

Walter’s diary entry on the 16th says that he goes to MINYAK BEKU.
