Kampung Pulau Tiga, Perak

December 29, 1941December 29, 2016

Nothing much all day. 27 bombers (country of origin unsure) seen around 1640 hours. Gilchrist and Richardson did a cycle patrol from Kg. P Tiga to Kg Gajah and back. Nil! No one has any news of the Japanese, but we feel that they are not far away. Lots of kluang (flying foxes) seen.

Could get no information from the locals. Feeling of tension growing.

We have the impression that the Japanese are making ready to come down the river. Rafts reported seen in the K.K. area, but none here. Local Malay Defence Volunteers (LDV) patrolling village all night, working in conjunction with us.

Malays laying in rice stocks (from Telok Anson) – constant procession of sampans heavily laden moving upriver.
