Sungai Muda, Kedah

December 15, 1941December 16, 2016

At 20.00hrs, the Company moved to the south bank of the Muda River with orders to cover off the remnants of the retreating troops and blow up the two bridges, one concrete, one wooden.

The two bridges were blown by a S & M Unit at 0700hrs on the 16th. The concrete bridge was demolished well. However, the wooden bridge proved more problematic. Despite being fired with petrol, it was still passable to infantry.

At 11.00hrs on the 16th, enemy scouts, bicycle and motor patrols, arrived on the north bank of the river. Spasmodic fighting/firing with enemy continued throughout the day without casualties. 18.30hrs, Company ordered to withdraw to TAIPING which it reached during the night.
